Tesla Pays Off Its Debt, First USA Auto Company to Do SoSpeaking of Tesla, that dangerous company coming to take all the auto dealers jobs, they wrote Uncle Sam a check today, $451 million worth to finish paying off their loan from 2009. They're only doing it about 9 years early, so there's that too.
Here's what Elon Musk, CEO and founder had to say about it:
I would like to thank the Department of Energy and the members of Congress and their staffs that worked hard to create the (advanced vehicle loan) program, and particularly the American taxpayer from whom these funds originate, I hope we did you proud.
Man, it's a shame President Obama made all those terrible loans to his cronies in green tech, huh?
