I don’t even know why I follow Gizmodo.com anywhere anymore, but this crossed my newsfeed this morning and I couldn’t stomach it sitting without response.
I watched the coverage of Microsoft’s announcement of the Surface tablets last night. They look amazing, no doubt about it. They’re thin, beautiful, with eye-catching features (the cover/keyboard in particular is something I can’t wait to see how well it actually performs). I was and am impressed with what Microsoft is doing, but they’ve DONE nothing. They haven’t made the iPad or Macbook Air obsolete, because they HAVEN’T RELEASED ANYTHING!
Microsoft announced two tablets, one that was strongly implied will be available by the holidays, the other a few months later. They didn’t say how long their batteries last, how much they will cost or where and when you’ll be able to buy one. That’s not a product. That’s a pipeline. They’ve established that they intend to bring out a true iPad competitor, they have not released a true iPad competitor. Until they do, please climb back under your bridge, Internet Trolls that run Gizmodo.
