I got my first Nintendo System (the original NES Nintendo Entertainment System with two controllers, one zapper and a double cartridge containing Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt) for my 5th birthday. Since then, every four or five years birthday or Christmas has brought me the new Nintendo home console.Until the Wii. With the Wii, I was married, employed. I just went out and bought the thing. And it was delightful. But in the years since, iPhones, iPads and web-games have replaced the Wii for me and my sons.
Do we need a Wii U? No. And definitely not at $300. For the first time in my life, I have no interest or intent to buy the next Nintendo home console. That’s a little sad.
